まだ何も意味を! 成していない東京!

Well its nearly 4am and we're just about to leave for Manilla in the Philippines. In case you're wondering what the title means, it's just a little Japanese we've picked up!

So after nearly a week here, this place is still just as weird as when we arrived, if not more so! From sleeping in what was like a capsule hotel, to going into 11 storey shopping malls with worlds within worlds it's just completely crazy! Oh and in one of the malls was a place called Ice Cream City, where they sell nothing but ice creams, funnily enough! One of which just had to be tried, which was called Ice Cream Negro:
























Anyway, time for our flight now, but will put up some more pics of Tokyo in the next day or two....

and here they are as promised, oh and did we mention that we visited Disneyland in Tokyo??...we've added some pics of that too.

Also, if you're wondering why there's a picture of a toilet seat...well check out the nifty electronic controls that they all have attached! You can use your imagination as to what they're for!

Tokyo - where absolutely nothing makes sense!!!

Well we're in that expensive city called Tokyo! Actually it's not really any more expensive than London but when travelling on a budget, 4 pounds for a pint of beer soon starts to take its toll!

Anyway, this place is strange! It's very similar to London but without streetnames!! No-one has any idea at all where anything is and that's assuming you can find the one person in a million that speaks any English! We tried to find our hostel and despite being only minutes away from it, it took about 2 hours to find due to being given duff directions several times; we've been advised to never get a taxi here as the taxi drivers also have no way of finding where anywhere is! Buying food is equally as bad since despite being in the apparent "tourist" area, everything is written in Japanese. Our hostel is also strange since the dorm we're staying in is split into "capsule" -type beds...and if you haven't a clue what i'm on about check out this website.

Having said that, their subway, or should I say underground system, is similar to our underground and so getting around isn't too bad provided you're not looking for anywhere specific. We haven't really seen much as yet since only arriving yesterday but will perhaps post some pics on later!
